In 1957 he was signed by Juventus FC, where he became European footballer of the year in 1961. After Ciro Ferrara lost 9 of the last 12 matches of the 2009-2010 season with Juventus, Alberto Zaccheroni was appointed as an interim replacement on 29 January 2010. He announced that he would retire from professional football at the end of the 2019 MLS season. Chelsea were relegated to the Second Division in 1923/24 and only managed to get back into the First Division in the 1929/30 season, where they would play for the next 32 seasons. Despite the presence of goal thief Ferdinand "Cassis" Adams and the talented goalkeeper Jean Caudron, Anderlecht could not last longer than two seasons at the highest level. The first European trophy was a fact, but Anderlecht would rather lose the Dutch coach than get rich. Anderlecht, which had never progressed beyond the first round of the European Cup I in the 1950s, eliminated the great Real Madrid in 1962 after, among other things, a beautiful long shot by Jurion, who was later nicknamed Mister Europe. The two guided Anderlecht to a third European final in a row in 1978. Anderlecht took third place and a year later became national champion for the first time in the club's history. It was the second time that no European country reached the semi-finals, the first time this has happened in Europe. Fiorentina won 2-1 to reach the round of 16. It also reached the final of the European Cup II again later that season. Urbain Braems became champion with Anderlecht in 1974 and reached the quarter finals of the European Cup I a year later. That result completely disappeared in the shadow of what his eccentric successor, the Dutchman Hans Croon, achieved a season later. This time, the stay in the second highest football division in the country lasted four years. Anderlecht ended the 1934/35 season as champions and thus promoted to the Honorary Division for the last time. Exactly ten years after the first promotion, Anderlecht relegated back to the First Division.
Almost a year later, in May 1989, United made their first appearance at Wembley, in the Football League Trophy final. The Germans won the final 3-1. Captain Conte not only missed the final, but also a large part of the competition due to a serious knee injury he sustained during an international match against Georgia. After the Second World War, the Belgian league was restarted. Trainer Smith returned to his native country after the outbreak of the Second World War. The club changed from a tail team to a solid mid-engine under the impetus of Irish coach Ernest Smith. Kessler would later, between half 1978 and half 1982 coach the then so successful AZ'67 from Alkmaar. After several years of disappearing from the football world, Bigon became a coach at AC Cesena in 1987. Subsequently, competitions are held by the local unions affiliated with the SVB, the so-called member unions. Croon left and was replaced by Raymond Goethals, who knew Vanden Stock from the national team. A year after the lost final, former player Constant Vanden Stock took over the position of chairman from Albert Roosens. Under the leadership of Ivić, Anderlecht were able to push through to the semi-finals of the European Cup I in 1982. In that match, they narrowly lost to Aston Villa, the later winner of the European Cup I. It was one of Constant Vanden Stock's biggest sporting disappointments.

Also the following season the club finished in last place, again behind Étoile Carouge. The club dropped back to the First Division in 1923, where it immediately played champion again. Just like before the war, Anderlecht was still in the First Division, but had changed terrain. The Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, as it was called from then on, had business seats and boxes and was based on modern American stadiums. Former toppers such as Cassis Adams and Caudron were no longer present, they had made way for new players such as Arnould Deraeymaeker, Constant Vanden Stock and Albert Mettens. ↑ "Valles drives for Liverpool", Autosport.
